Who is therapy for?

You may be wondering if therapy can really help, especially while the world is cracking open. Most people come with a hint of what’s going on for them, and a bit of mystery around something deeper. Everyone I work with finds clarity in what is truly theirs to heal, and what they can leave behind. You don’t have to know all of what you’re looking for.

I work with trauma, relationship struggles, gaslighting, family discord, micro-aggressions, identity questions, navigating systemic oppression, gender identity and sexual orientation, depression, anxiety, and many other needs. If you’re looking for someone to hear your stories in your own words, help with the difficult parts, and celebrate the triumphs, let’s talk.

LGBTQIA2S+

It’s a harrowing time to be queer. Your life has given you the gift and the struggle of being different from dominant culture. Whether you have known this your whole life, or are just discovering something new and beautiful about yourself, welcome! Your whole self belongs here. I have experience working with folks questioning their sexual orientation and gender identity, moving through all stages of social and medical gender transitions, exploring the difference between what’s ‘me’ and what’s internalized or cultural stigma, and working with marginalization. If you find yourself destabilized by this cultural moment, loving a straight or cis partner who doesn’t totally get it, blossoming into your true self for the first time in your life, or just needing a place where you’re not a problem for who you are, you are welcome here. I work with members of the queer and trans community of all ages. If you know queerness is a part of your story, I’m interested to hear it.

Disability & Chronic Illness

The weight and complexity of being disabled in this era cannot be overstated. Whether it’s the burden of managing your own healthcare, fighting the medical industrial complex gaslighting and denials, how intersecting marginalities deepen the harm, or one of the other seemingly endless wounds and frustrations of navigating disability in this time; the burden is real and unjust. I deeply enjoy supporting fellow disabled folks in therapy. Getting creative about dynamic disability needs and chronic illness flares is joyful labor for me. In a time of pandemic denialism and medical gaslighting, disabled people need a space to be heard, believed, and cared for. If you need therapy to be a place where your disabilities, chronic illnesses, and medical trauma can all belong, I’d love to hear from you.
